Os modais t\u00eam uma grande variedade de fun\u00e7\u00f5es comunicativas, modificando ou complementando o sentido dos verbos principais nas frases.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Podemos dizer que os <em>modal verbs<\/em> mais utilizados no ingl\u00eas s\u00e3o o <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">can<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">could<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">may<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">might<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">must<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">should<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> shall<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">would<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Em <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">um panorama geral, esses podem expressar capacidade, possibilidade, obriga\u00e7\u00e3o, permiss\u00e3o, proibi\u00e7\u00e3o, dedu\u00e7\u00e3o, suposi\u00e7\u00e3o, pedido, vontade ou desejo e s\u00e3o utilizados para imprimirem na fala a inten\u00e7\u00e3o de que os usa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><b>Caracter\u00edsticas gerais dos <em>Modal Verbs<\/em>:<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">N\u00e3o s\u00e3o flexion\u00e1veis &#8211; n\u00e3o recebem o <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-ed<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ou <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-ing<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> que indicam o tempo verbal e nem mesmo o -s da terceira pessoa, diferentemente do auxiliar \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">do<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d ou dos outros verbos em geral.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Exemplos de <em>modal verbs<\/em> sendo utilizados:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It must be raining outside.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Deve estar chovendo l\u00e1 fora)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She must be coming.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Ela deve estar vindo)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I can sing.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Eu consigo cantar)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can sing.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Voc\u00ea consegue cantar)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She can sing.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Ela consegue cantar)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He can sing.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Ele consegue cantar)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We can sing.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (N\u00f3s conseguimos cantar)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They can sing. <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Eles conseguem cantar)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Verbos modais s\u00e3o seguidos diretamente por <a href=\"https:\/\/idiomus.com\/blog\/verbos-em-ingles\/\">verbos em ingl\u00eas<\/a> no infinitivo, mas sem o \u201c<i>to<\/i>\u201d (o que chamamos \u201cbare infinitive\u201d); ex.<i> I can go tonight<\/i> (Eu posso ir hoje \u00e0 noite). O verbo principal \u201cir\u201d em ingl\u00eas \u00e9 \u201c<i>to go<\/i>\u201d. Ao ser utilizado junto com o verbo modal \u201c<i>can<\/i>\u201d, perde o \u201c<i>to<\/i>\u201d.
